Sometimes, all it takes is a song to bring people together. Otis Pavlovic and Royel Maddell might never have started making music with each other were it not for the sublime sound of Long Island duo the Alessi Brothers’ 1976 single ‘Seabird’. A formative yacht-rock anthem that combines a little bit of Steely Dan with a whole lot of soul and falsetto harmonies, it was love at first listen for both Pavolvic and Maddell. When the pair of relative strangers ended up exchanging ideas for a potential project, both knew exactly what they wanted it to sound like: ‘Seabird’. “It’s stunning,” explains Maddell. “Fucking flawless.”

THE INITIATIV
(Indie rock – Paris, FR)
The Initiativ est un groupe d’Indie Rock créé à Paris en Juin 2022.
Le groupe tire une grande partie de son inspiration à la pop british tout en s’inscrivant dans une variété de genres issues du Rock Alternatif (dance punk, pop rock, psychédélique…). Le groupe se munit toujours de lignes de voix très mélodiques que les chanteurs (Julie Ruffat et Mateo Minguez) se partagent par un subtil jeu d’équilibre entre puissance du grain et douceur angélique.
Durant l’été 2022, The Initiativ remporte le tremplin lycéen Rock En Seine.
Le groupe sort son premier single « The Line » sur toutes les plateformes le 1er Juillet 2023.
