PEARZ
(Indie electro – Londres, UK)
Hailing from Florence, an Italian hotbed of poetry and arts, Pearz is the musical moniker of multi-instrumentalist Francesco Perini. Having cut his teeth as a former member of The Hacienda and as session musician for the likes of Tess Parks and M!R!M, the London-based artist’s solo endeavours stem from “years of erratic and sleepless music nights”.
Following 2020’s Nocturnal EP, new single ‘Social Amnesia’ is a disillusioned dance track that draws from a melting-pot of influences. Nodding to Italian soundtracks, elements of nu jazz and nostalgic hip-hop beats, the largely instrumental composition glistens with enthusiasm and a love for making music. Layering synthesized strings atop of a groovy bass line, reminiscent of Liquid Liquid’s famously sampled banger ‘Cavern’, the infectious rhythm section wouldn’t sound out of place on Primal Scream’s seminal Screamadelica. Continually elevating across its 4-minute duration, gritty guitars add a satisfying sense of dirt to the well-produced piece before giving way to a disorientating piano outro.

KACIMI

Pour son troisième album, Kacimi est entouré de son groupe live sobrement baptisé « La Mécréance » (Romano Bianchi, Vincent Breza, Anthony Savarit). Avec ce gang il ravive ses obsessions de bubble pop garage à guitares. Après différents singles (« Décroche », « Il fait si chaud ce soir », « Les Rois»…) et collaborations ces deux dernières années (Lionel Limiñana, Laurent Blot, Alexis Fugain, L’Eclair…), « Couronne d’Ephémères » se glisse dans la discographie de Kacimi comme une collection de chansons power pop dotée d’une poésie grinçante et débordante de tranches de vie ou l’absurdité devient une évidence. Que dis-je « une religion ». Un troisième album sous forme de trip hédoniste, ou chaque mesure est un plaisir finement orchestré par La Mécréance, combo freakbeat genevois au déhanché surf et à l’humour caustique.
