“None of this works if I do it alone…” Creating harmony within music is often not simply the result of a technique or knack. For the acts that deliver it with devastating, affecting power, harmony is a way of being, a kind of thinking and an understanding that unites and strengthens a number of different artistic visions behind one goal.
Harmonies certainly seem to be a keystone of the five-piece KAWALA. While that is most clearly demonstrated by the vocal union between singer Jim Higson and guitarist-singer Daniel McCarthy that sits at the heart of the group, harmony on many different levels is what has allowed KAWALA to resonate with people.
Both hailing from the same social environs of Camden Town, Kentish Town and Tufnell Park, the first harmony the co-frontmen experienced was with the North London district where they were raised. Attending different schools but sharing some of the same friends and attending the same parties since their teens, a strong creative spark would arise between them whenever they saw each other.

Dimitri von Büren est un multi-instrumentiste et un artiste basé à Paris. Né dans le tumulte parisien, Dimitri conçoit ses compositions comme une invitation au rêve. À la croisée du rock indé, de la bedroom pop, de la soul et du jazz, Dimitri explore des sons qui lui sont propres, brisant les barrières entre les genres.
Il sort son premier album solo en 2021 “Moonlight Confession. Dimitri conçoit les chansons comme un voyage. C’est très justement ce qu’on ressent en écoutant le projet de l’artiste parisien, une escapade onirique à l’empreinte joyeuse et colorée.

Rockabiliser la profondeur nostalgique de la nuit est le but ultime de ce personnage chilien, naturellement excentrique et naïvement irrévérent. Ayant reçu le « Prix Citron » deux années d’affilée en tant que musicien le plus antipathique de la jetset parisienne, il a aussi été impliqué dans des embrouilles scandaleuses en raison d’une polygamie musicale controversée : comment concilier ou mélanger le punk et le freejazz ? Le grunge et le rock prog ? Le suspens est incontestable.
