BLACKWATER HOLYLIGHT

Blackwater Holylight, as the name suggests, is all about contrasts. It’s a fluid convergence of sound that’s heavy, psychedelic, melodic, terrifying and beautiful all at once. As a heavy band, their songs aren’t anchored to riffs, but rather riffs come and go in waves that surface throughout the band’s meditative, entrancing songs. It’s a hypnotic sound, with orchestral structures that often build tension and intrigue before turning the song on its head — not by simply getting louder or heavier, nor by just layering elements. They expertly subvert the implied heaviness of a part, dissecting it and splaying the songs guts out to seep across the sonic spectrum.

IRON JINN
(Psych rock – Arnhem, NLD)
Iron Jinn are Oeds Beydals (The Devil’s Blood/Molassess/Death Alley), Wout Kemkens (Shaking Godspeed/De Niemanders), Bob Hogenelst (Birth of Joy/Molassess) and Gerben Bielderman (Pauw) and their debut full length on Stickman Records (21st of April 2023) is a frantic album that follows the logic of a dream; none.
The album releaseparty was held at Roadburn Festival 2023 in a packed Green Room, a week later the band played Desertfest London and Sonic Whip festival followed by own clubshows. The first albumreviews are in and Rockhard Magazine, OOR magazine, Visions Magazine, Aardschok magazine and others unanimously praise the ambitious debut and Distorted Sound dubbed them as ‘masters of strange and etherial psychedelia’.

RADIANT
(Noise – Jarane – Paris, FR)
Radiant est un projet noise basé à Paris et fondé en 2019. Radiant sort son premier EP éponyme qui a été enregistré & mixé pendant l’été 2019 par Miguel Constantino (Peter Kernel, Papier Tigre…) à Nantes et masterisé par Carl Staff à Chicago. Le puissant trio au son cru et minimaliste impose des ambiances intimistes et trace d’élégants canevas imbibés de tension qui finissent par être délayés dans un lâcher-prise sonique ample et généreux. Ruptures spontanées et libératrices guidées par un timbre âpre et sincère, des guitares aiguisées et profondes, et une base rythmique solide et corporelle. Malgré des liens de parenté avec Bästard, Ulan Bator, Hint, Sonic Youth ou Blonde Redhead, le groupe Franco-Italien dont le line-up actuel est composé de Simona Maurone, Aurélien Esquivet et Léo Goizet, a réussi avec leur EP éponyme à incarner une noise qui leur est propre et qui explore, particulièrement lors de leurs performances en live, des contrées abstraites, psychédéliques voire méditatives, tout en conservant une dimension pop(ulaire).
