On a enregistré quelques mois plus tard au studio de la Vimondière\, en Normandie (https://studiovimondiere.com/) les titres qui figurent sur les deux EP que l’on vient de sortir\, « CONSEQUENCE » et « POISONED » qui ont été mixés en DIY total grâce aux talents de Julo. On est d’autant plus fiers !\nEn 2022\, on a fait quelques petites scènes\, essentiellement sur Paris\, en autoprod ou grâce à des associations qui déchirent (ouais EVTEVL!\, c’est vous). Se frotter à la scène nous a fait pas mal évoluer\, y compris dans l’interprétation des morceaux déjà écrits. On a sous le coude de quoi enregistrer bientôt de nouveaux sons et plein d’idées dans la tête pour tous ceux à venir !\nOn aime quand ça tape un peu fort. On commence souvent l’écriture d’un morceau par « et si on faisait un truc un peu cool cette fois »\, et on termine à 150 Bpm à claquer la semelle sur la pédale de disto. La filiation sonore est assez transparente : ça sonne 90’s\, quelque part entre Washington DC\, Chicago et Portland. Le trombone de Robinson Khoury se lie avec la voix\, et navigue entre les gammes orientales et européennes\, entre les ornementations et une technique personnelle. Ils composent notamment leur premier titre Music Dangerous Mind Affect d’où ils tireront leur nom de groupe.\nA partir de 2018\, le groupe cherche à faire évoluer leur son. Cela passe notamment par un changement de line up avec le départ du batteur d’origine et l’arrivée de Alan MARION. Petit à petit\, le groupe va laisser de côté leurs inspirations psychés pour laisser place à un rock plus rythmé à la fois bouillonnant et désenchanté inspiré de grands groupes comme Muse ou Royal Blood. Ils exposent alors au grand public leurs nouveaux morceaux en concerts sur la région parisienne. En parallèle\, le groupe enregistre et sort le 30 octobre 2020 son premier opus intitulé « EMMA » avec 12 titres et sort\, dans le même temps\, le clip de la troisième piste de l’album : « Pure ».\nAprès la sortie de « EMMA »\, le groupe a soif de renouveaux et s’oriente vers des sonorités plus actuelles et électroniques notamment influencé par Coldplay ou Twenty One Pilots. Across the span of their first five studio albums\, the trio zeroed in on different aspects of their sound – a blend of lilting siren songs\, crushing Northwest thunder and sludge\, angular econo-rock\, and heady guitar pop\nwhile retaining their no-frills\, meat-and-potatoes approach in the studio. But with this Helms Alee expanded have their palette by delving into the production possibilities afforded by recording the album themselves\, creating their most dynamic and technicolored work to date. This new approach is immediately evident on first single and album opener “See Sights Smell Smells\,” where reverse cymbal crashes\, fragmented piano\, layered drums\, woozy drones\, saxophone freak-outs\, and trippy vocal treatments transport the listener to an altered state of exhilarated anticipation. The song is accompanied by a video created by Allen Watke whose video art consists primarily of analog equipment with an emphasis on VHS dubbing\, glitching & manipulation.\nWhen the pandemic hit\, guitarist/vocalist Ben Verellen\, bassist/vocalist Dana James\, and drummer/vocalist Hozoji Matheson-Margullis found refuge in their music and bunkered down in a makeshift studio in Verellen’s amplifier shop. The thump traversed all beings\, and the Thumpasarus helped distribute its secret wisdom to all sentient and non sentient creatures. It was good. As time passed and the Earth fluctuated between periods of great peace and great unrest\, the Thumpasaurus became a threat to growing forces of evil- who fueled by a primary motivation in consumerism sought to eliminate the Thumpasaurus. To save the species and protect the goodness of the Universe\, The Thumpasaurus fled the earth to the outer reaches of space time – though the Thumpasaurus swore to return to the Earth as harbingers of the age of reawakening. Sarah Pepels was new in town\, a music student attempting to make some roots. Hearing music coming from down the corridor in her student home\, she knocked\, and met Jente Pironet for the first time. One conversation led to the next\, and within hours they were writing together\, playing each other their ideas and sharing some profound secrets.\nPortland won the prestigious De Nieuwe Lichting prize – one of Belgium’s top honours for young songwriters – before releasing their precocious debut album ‘Your Colours Will Stain’ in 2019.
