Elle a grandi dans une petite ville du Maine\, aux Etats Unis\, en faisant toujours de la musique. À 4 ans\, elle a commencé à jouer du piano classique et à chanter dans un choeur traditionnel composé uniquement de femmes. Elle a joué de la flûte traversée\, du piano dans des groupes de jazz\, et enfin\, de la guitare.
